Phil started playing guitar in third grade, sax in sixth grade and bass guitar as a teenager. He won the Henry P. Lussier Memorial Award for Music in 1980 at Mount St. Charles Academy presented annually to the most musically gifted graduating senior.  Phil, Mike Gosselin, Ken Fournier, Gary Peloquin and John Desaulniers founded the local Woonsocket RI band Low Funds.

In the 80's, Phil was a founding member of Blue Star, another local Woonsocket RI band that played about 150 jobs annually.   Phil and Joe Cesaroni played for years together with a variety of local talented musicians including Gary Peloqiun, Don Charpentier, Betsy Cournoyer Listenfelt, Kathy Ryan, Jim Pelletier, Ken Fournier, Dave Pereira, and later Peter Saint and Russ Brisette, They also played some clubs as Rage in the mid 80's after the addition of Peter and Russ.

It’s not so much that any of those bands was particularly memorable on the RI music scene, unless you grew up or got married in Woonsocket in the early 80s, you probably don't even remember them.  But what is pretty amazing is the number of bands that former members of those bands eventually played in.  Just a quick list would include: The Mill City Rockers, Legacy, Century, Dave and the Deviators, Billy and the Kids, Shakedown, A Million Pictures, Pets on Prozac, Hard Candy, Something Wild, Rubber Moose, The Smokin’ Toads, The Niteflies, Mystic Vibe, The Noyz, and The Saucy Jack Band, to name a few.

At that time Phil decided to retire from music and concentrate on his banking career for the next 20+ years.
Phil guaranteed he'd only play again with the right situation, and that came in the Fall of 2012 when he came out of retirement to play bass with old friends John Duggan, Jim Pelletier and Marc Zeilinski in The Saucy Jack Band.  It was a  a blast to play the MTV unplugged style acoustic rock with three such talented musicians for four years.

Phil formed a new project in 2013 playing electric guitar with some old and new friends with the hope of playing great music that people want to hear.  That project was Idyll Minds.

Phil is currently living in northwestern PA playing bass and guitar, and running sound for several local bands with Jude.
